Methods of Scar Removal
February 24th, 2009 adminScar removal is an unfortunate requirement for many people. Thankfully there are a variety of options available in a range of price points. Cost is always a factor isn’t it. let’s take a look at a few scar removal methods.
Dermabrasion is a technique for removing the upper epidermal layer of the skin by abrasion - just like sanding with sand paper in away. It’s one of the most common procedures for removing acne scars. Dermabrasion levels the surface irregularities of skin. Many people choose dermabrasion for removing wrinkle and lines around the mouth. It is also used to enhance the appearance and texture of the skin of the face in general. Sunburned or excessively tanned skin may benefit from the procedure.
Another treatment is called Thermage. This is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure. It is being looked at as a viable method for treating acne. If you have tried all over-the-counter facial products you care to Thermage may be an option you might want to consider to get clear skin.
Laser scar elimination is another viable scar removal option. It may be just the thing for you. It can lend a hand in reducing the manifestation of scars and resolve the deep emotional effects that go with them. A qualified professional can use a laser on the skin and surrounding areas to deliver a focus of light energy which removes a coating of skin to give the skin a clean appearance. A new layer of skin will gradually replace the scar layer and the scar area become less visible. Also this treatment stimulates growth of the appropriate amounts of collagen in the lower skin layers.
Another type of dermatological procedure to consider is a chemical peel. Believe it or not there are even in home version of them. Dermatologists can administer chemical peels on a regular basis for a period of time until your desires appearance is achieved. this of course may not always be financially manageable, hence the home version. I hae my reservation about doing something like this at home although I recognize the appeal and convenience of such a procedure. and pricing is of course a huge consideration.
Often times skin sensitivity can be an issue with a chemical peel. This is something you will have ot be aware of and have to monitor closely. Alert your dermatologist at the first sign of trouble. Sunshine may prove to be an issue as well when you first get a chemical peel. Sensitivity to sunlight will of course vary by individual but it’s something to be aware of.
They are not quite scars but they are no fun either. Stretch marks. You can get them for any number of reasons, maybe you lost a lot of weight, maybe you just had a baby, or maybe you’re just sort of prone to them. No one wants to see them really. There are many proposed solutions to lessen stretch marks. Many dermatologists can treat them and prices vary. In the treatment of stretch marks, some doctors are reporting about 50-75% of positive results within a series of 3-5 treatments. This revolutionary technology is reported to take years off your appearance. Sounds promising. Unfortunately, Fraxel is not FDA approved. Hopefully its a matter of time before it it approved. Investigate fraxel laser treatment with your doctor today. Fraxel Treatment could be an alternative to a chemical peel or IPL.
Other things to be aware of are the dermatologists reputation and equipment. make sure your doctor is using an up to date procedure to avoid known side effects that have been eliminated. Costs will vary, that’s no surprise but don’t immediately assume higher cost is better. That is a perception that’s normal but dive deeper into your doctor’s reputation and track record before committing your collars to a chemical procedure.
